Family Resource Center
We are committed to promoting the mental, emotional, and social development of our students so that they may develop the knowledge and skills to recognize and manage emotions, develop care and concern for others, establish positive relationships, make responsible decisions, handle challenging situations constructively, resolve conflicts respectfully, manage stress, and make ethical and safe choices.
We encourage students to notify a teacher, counselor, administrator or other staff member when they are experiencing thoughts of personal harm, injury or suicide or when they suspect or have knowledge of another student's intentions to do so. Every statement regarding such intent will be taken seriously.
Mental Health and Substance Abuse
Substance abuse continues to be a widespread problem among school-aged students. Unfortunately, now it is often a coping mechanism instead of a simple response to peer pressure. Children are experimenting with drugs and alcohol at younger ages as they struggle to deal with familial problems, self-image issues, and other pressures. The West Covina Unified School District has partnered with Care Solace to provide families with mental health and substance abuse resources. Parents, we encourage you to use the Care Solace search tool to find clinics and facilities near you. Staff, please sign in to create referrals.
